The day turned out to be a sun filled travel day down route 1 from Monterey. This was a perfect ride to Lompoc - the roads were great and the vista's were better. We had a couple construction delays but nothing to impede the ride. We could have stopped at every turn to take a snapshot. I found it amazing that for every vista toward the ocean there was one to the east of the foothills overlooking the Pacific. This was such a departure from the day before that we both thought we'd died and gone to heaven. I still wish we could re-do the run from Eureka because we missed so much. But we can't.
We did stop at the Hearst Castle and went through the museum. It's an amazing place. We did not do the tour. David has promised to come back.
We stopped to see the seals. What a crowd - the seals and the people! They've even built a viewing area to help keep everyone safe.
The Lucia Lodge was a great stop - home made apple turnovers - yes I did - and I ran it off when I got to the Travel Lodge!
Once we cleared route 1 we headed to Lompoc. David found a Pep Boys where we bought oil and changed it in the parking lot. The ladies are now ready to begin heading towards home on Friday.
The forcast is for rain tomorrow so we'll hopefully hang tight for the day. The bikes are parked under the overhang outside the room so they're as comfy as we are.
We'll do something tomorrow, I just don't know what yet.
