Then, mid morning, the wind came on strong, with gusts to 40, and lasted until Colorado. We were on route 50 by then, a 65 MPH highway. It's funny how that works because the wind went away almost as soon as we left Kansas. So, our time in Kansas was spent in a constant lean to the north (nearly 90 degrees to our westward direction), buffeted by the gusts all the way, working to just stay in our own lane.
We did stop in Spearville, home to countless wind turbines 200 feet tall with a "blade span" of 90 ft, according to David. They are impressive and can be seen clearly on Google Earth and the pic below too.
I did have an interesting issue with the bike this morning. We fueled up this morning and somehow I managed to dislodge the throttle position sensor's electrical connection - first time ever. That I did it is problematic, where I did it created some excitement and an few anxious moments. After fueling I started her up (she wasn't happy) and moved out into traffic. At the I-35 entrance she stalled. I started her again and she stalled -again - we did that a couple more times and I realized I wasn't going anywhere. With cars behind me, no one honked (proving this is a friendly town), I jumped off and pushed it to the curb, (notice she's now an "it.") where a nice police officer pulled up to check me out. I told him I was fine but had no clue what was going on. I then looked down, you always look down, and saw this plug thingy just hanging there. Well, I know what to do with a dangling plug - plug it in. So, I fixed it without getting off - that must be worth something - and off we went without a hitch. At our next stop I called Adventure BMW and Nolan gave me the computer reset procedure and all is now well with the world.
